Installed Mint 18 KDE beta, 'tis rather nice. Dumped Kontact and Kmail,
installed Evolution which works a treat.

Installed Pan 0.140 but in the View menu there is no Header Pane listed
with all its options, just Show Toolbar, Layout, Group Pane and Body Pane
are in the drop down menu. Consequently the match only unread articles
filter button at the top does not work correctly, i.e., it leaves old
read messages still in the header pane when the pane is refreshed.

So I uninstalled Pan and force installed the older 0.139 version, set the
options up for the header pane in the view menu then tried the match only
unread articles filter and that worked as it should. I then upgraded to
the 0.140 version where the Header Pane and its options are still missing
in the view menu BUT the filter button now works correctly by hiding the
old read posts in the header pane.

I guess the old version added something to the libraries but after the
best part of a day faffing around I am rather pleased it's working
properly again to my liking.
Maybe once 18 is out of beta everything will be all rosy again.
The signature problem is still there but what the hell, I can live with
that :-)

Sounds like a Mint issue rather than a Pan issue :-p

Sure is.
On PCLinuxos all the options are there :-)
